THE Co-op in Calne has presented a cheque for over £1,000 to Dorothy House Hospice after a year of in store fundraising.

The £1128 has taken 12 months to raise by staff through bake sales, raffles and customer donations.

Trevor Martin, from the Co-op, said: "I feel really pleased, it's a charity that's close to my heart for personal reasons.

"It's a challenge but I don't see it like that, everyone is very supportive and we have some great customers which is a real help."

Dorothy House near Bath offers end of life care to patients and support for their families.

The charity's community fundraiser, Yvonne Brunton, said: "It is fantastic to have such wonderful local support which means we can maintain the package of care that we give to our patients and their families within the 700 square mile radius that we cover.

"It will make such a difference to so many people and I can't thank everyone enough, all staff and customers at the Co-op, Calne for thinking of Dorothy House Hospice Care."
