POLICE are appealing for witness after a 10-year-old boy was left with head injuries following a collision where a car failed to stop in Calne.

The incident happened in Stokes Croft last night between 7.20-7.39pm.

The child was playing near to the road when he was hit by a passing vehicle. The vehicle did not stop and continued towards The Were and onto Swaddon Street.

Police and ambulance units attended the scene, but due to the child sustaining injuries to his head he was taken to the GWH in Swindon for further treatment.

The vehicle involved was described as a new shaped car and bright red in colour.

No vehicle registration number was taken.

The description of the driver was given as a white female, approximately 18-24 years old, skinny, with long dark hair and wearing loose type top.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact PC 319 Stockhill at Calne Police Station on 101, quoting the crime reference number – 54150087101.
