GRASSROOTS football in Calne has received a major boost thanks to a grant worth over £6,000 from the Premier League and FA Facilities Fund.

The £6450 grant was given to Calne Town Council for the Beversbrook Sports and Community Facility to develop new or refurbished grassroots football facilities.

The grant has enabled Beversbrook to purchase a tractor which will help the award winning facility to maintain the football pitches to a high standard and to enable the qualified ground staff to implement an intense maintenance programme.

The Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund is funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government, via Sport England and is delivered by the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity.

Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “I am delighted that a grant from the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund has enabled Beversbrook Sports and Community Facility to purchase the new tractor. This development will provide a real boost to football in the local area.

“With this funding, provided by the Premier League, The FA and the Government, through Sport England, we are helping to improve community sports facilities across the country and thereby the playing experience of those who take part.”

Beversbrook Sports and Community Facility is home to 75 football teams, including Swindon Town, hosts over 2000 footballing activities each season.
