A CONCERT in memory of Jack Stuart, who died aged 20 last year, has raised over £1600 for the MPS Society.

Jack, who had Hunter Syndrome (or MPS II), a rare degenerative condition that led to irreparable damage to his airway, was remembered on Saturday at the White Hart Hotel in Calne with a concert organised by musician Benji Clements.

Eight acts performed on the night including Benji & Hibbz, Tyler Harvey, James Duggan and the Cool Cat Collection and The Showhawk Duo.

Jack's mum, Manda Stuart, said: "When our son Jack, passed away at the end of last year, we were completely overwhelmed by the love and support we received from his friends in Calne.

"This amazing support shows no sign of stopping as more and more money has been raised in his memory. The money will go to helping other young people effected by MPS and their families, through research and advocacy support. We will always be appreciative of the support they gave us over the past 18 years since Jack's diagnosis.

"We would like to thank Benji, Chris, all the performers, The White Hart and all Jack's lovely friends and family who came to celebrate his 21st birthday - it means so much to us. Jack would have loved it."

A significant amount of the cash was raised on the night came from the raffle, organised by Chris Robinson, which saw 25 prizes donated by local businesses and an auction for a signed lyric sheet of Wonderwall by Oasis bass player Paul McGuigan.

Mr Clements said: "I would like to say thank you to everyone involved with getting us to the amount we raised."
