YOUNG fans of Tractor Ted arrived at Bowood House and Gardens in their thousands over the weekend for the Big Machines Weekend.

The family event, free for Bowood House and Gardens ticket holders, was designed to engage Tractor Ted fans in the ethos of real life farming and discovery in the countryside.

Supported by agricultural machinery manufacturers CLAAS, the event offered a selection of farm machinery fitting in with the theme of It’s Silage Time on the Farm.

Highlights of the event included arena demonstrations with the CLAAS Forage Harvester when children were invited to Hug a Harvester to see how many children it took to surround the big machine; a JCB Digger Working and Stunt Display by Tractor Ted favourite, Digger Tim, and loads of Tractor Ted related fun and games.

Tractor Ted’s marketing manager, Jo Sparrow, said: “It is always a complete pleasure putting on the Big Machines Weekend at Bowood as it brings so much enjoyment and excitement to our little Tractor Ted fans.

“The whole aim of the event is to give young children the opportunity to get up close to real life farm machinery. Vaughan Agri who provided the CLAAS machines were fabulous as they allowed the kids, and parents, supervised access into the forage harvester and tractor cabs to really get a grasp of what being a farmer might be like."
