Police in Calne are appealing for witnesses after a horse was shot in the neck by what is believed to have been a pellet from an air rifle.
The horse was injured in the area of the A4 in Quemerford near Calne on Saturday between 9am and 7.30pm.
A police spokesman said: "If you have any information which may assist us with our enquiries in relation to this matter, please contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting the crime reference number: 54150071229."
The incident comes just a few weeks after a similar appeal by Calne Police in regards to a cat also being shot by an air weapon pellet.
The cat was shot in the ear, head and shoulder in the Amberley Close area in Calne.
Any information which may assist police with their enquiries in relation to this matter, should contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting the crime reference number 5415006799.
