AQUATIC ecologist Rachel Whatmore will jet off on a dream Games of Thrones themed trip after beating 2,000 entrants to win a nationwide competition.

Miss Whatmore, 25, of Calne, will travel with her fiancé, thanks to Airbnb and Pinterest, on an all-expenses paid trip to Dubrovnik in Croatia, the back drop to many scenes from the cult TV show, including the Battle of the Blackwater.

Pinterest is a visual bookmarking tool, available online and as an app, that helps people discover and save creative ideas.

Miss Whatmore was judged to have created the most compelling board of her dream destination with a story that shared the activities she'd most like to do there with her entry Dreaming of Dubrovnik.

Her winning board maps out the filming locations and cast hangouts that have caught her eye during five years of Game of Thrones.

On arrival to Croatia, she will be welcomed into the same Airbnb property that hosted the cast when they were filming, complete with a view of the very beach featured in the battle.

While there, Miss Whatmore and her Airbnb host will pin about the activities they do and the locations they visit to inspire the hordes of fans looking to do something similar while they await the new series.

Adele Cooper, Pinterest Country Manager, UK, said: “A scientist by day, Rachel uses Pinterest to unleash her creativity on everything from patio planting ideas to garden party planning, from fashionable English countryside looks to boho interiors styling.

“We can’t wait to see Rachel bring her Pins to life when she makes the trip, meets her Airbnb host and visits locations of the sets she’s admired on Game of Thrones.

“Pinterest and Airbnb’s ‘Pin Your Dream Trip’ competition created a real battle of the boards, and we saw some fascinating submissions showing just how creative and ambitious people can be with their travel plans when they indulge their imaginations.”

Founded in August 2008, Airbnb is a trusted community marketplace for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodation around the world connecting people to unique travel experiences in more than 34,000 cities and over 190 countries.

James McClure, Airbnb Country Manager, UK, said: “Platforms like Airbnb and Pinterest are making it easier than ever to find out the facts behind the fiction, go to the places you’ve seen in your favourite shows and make on-screen fiction a reality.

“Extraordinary experiences can be seen on Pinterest and realised on Airbnb and we look forward to making another dream trip a reality."
