DADS can release their inner child, for one hour only, at Bowood House and Gardens on Father's Day.

Between 11am and noon on June 21, there will be no children allowed as the famous Adventure Playground at Bowood will become a dads’ only area.

An array of challenges lie in wait for dads who feel particularly brave including climbing up to the crow’s nest on the pirate’s galleon, tackling the high-level rope walk, clambering to the top of the scramble net or plummeting down the Death Slide.

Children can reclaim the playground for themselves from noon.

Across the grounds at Bowood, organisers of the annual charity dog show will be hoping to push the total amount raised during its ten year stint to more than £250,000 when the final show takes place, also on June 21.

The show's organisers will also be marking father's day in the final dog class that will be the father’s day special: the best six legs - for dads and dogs only.

Organiser Mike Weston said: "We are asking male visitors to get out the shorts or roll up the trouser legs. Definitely one to watch, we think."

The tenth and final dog show, taking place between 10am and 5pm, will once again be raising funds for charities serving the people of Wiltshire.

For the final show, some old favourites will be making one last appearance, including the Essex Dog Display Team, Lady Chichester's camels Thérèse and Temujin, Joseph’s Amazing Racing Pigs, Olivants Equine Big & Little, Bill Galpin’s Racing Terriers, laser clay shooting, plus archery and falconry displays.

New this year for food lovers will be the Bake It Big Productions show with celebrity bakers Christine Wallace and Glenn Cosby plus chef Richard Hunt.

The main event, the dog show, will once again comprise of family and fun classes, with companion classes for pedigree dogs, all being held under Kennel Club rules. There will also be several have-a-go classes including agility, splash and fetch, recall, the fun dog scurry and lurcher and terrier racing.

Moving amongst the crowd will be Higher Beings, stilt walking costumed characters providing visual entertainment, while the Candy Farm Animals’ petting zoo always prove popular with the younger visitors, and a tea tent manned by the Bremhill Ladies.

There are also displays, attractions, and activities for children, including fun rides, circus workshop and donkeys. There will be a shopping village with varied stalls and a Farmers’ Market as well as licensed bars and a variety of food stands.

Admission on the show is £10 for adults and £5 for children between two and 16. Carers accompanying wheelchair users and dogs are both free.
