THE 25-year-old motorcyclist killed on the A3102 Calne bypass has been named by police as Elliot Simpson from Chippenham.

The ambulance service was called to the A3102 Calne bypass at 6.03am to reports of a motorcyclist who had come off his Yamaha motorbike near to the Breversrook roundabout towards Lyneham.

An army medic carried out CPR on the motorcyclist until the ambulance service arrived and paramedics took over.

Mr Simpson was unconscious when the ambulance service arrived. He suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were called at 6.08am and are now appealing for witnesses to the collision. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

A police spokesman said: "Ambulance attended and treated the man at the scene but sadly he died.

"The road was closed at the Stickleback Roundabout, Stainer Road junction and School Road roundabout for about four and a half hours. “

People have started to leave bunches of flowers at the scene, including the army medic who performed CPR.

One tribute reads: “R.I.P El. Another legend taken from us. You we’re a kind, amazing person going to be missed by many. So many memories. Love you bro, thinking of you.”
