A QUARTET of one-week-old rabbits stole the show when Dave and Ewe’s mobile farm visited the Barnardos Children’s Centre in Calne on Thursday.

The rabbits were born on Easter Saturday and were the highlight for the many children who could hold, touch and cuddle the animals.

As well as the rabbits, the farm brought a selection of ducks, chickens, lambs, alpaca and a miniature Shetland cross horse for the children to enjoy.

Cath Cox, co-owner of the mobile farm which is based in Rowde, said: “It’s their fourth outing and they go down a storm, nobody can believe they are that tiny.”

The grass in front of the children’s centre was packed with parents and children as the centre welcomed more than 50 families in just under an hour.

Georgina Knappe, team manager at the children’s centre, said: “It’s brilliant to see so many people here, it gives us the opportunity to let the parents know what we offer and the children can experience something they don’t normally get to do.

“The day has been really popular, the farm came in the summer and it proved really popular and they said they would bring baby animals in for Easter so it was the perfect opportunity for the children to see the babies and have the chance to hold them.

“The weather is beautiful as well which always helps with the turnout.”

It looks set to be a busy summer for the mobile farm which already has lots of events planned over the next few months.

Dave Buscombe, who also runs the farm, said: “Our work is so rewarding, it’s fantastic, I could spend hours telling you the benefits these animals’ can bring, it’s great."
