Dog owners in Calne have had more warnings from police this week, as part of a theft awareness campaign.

Patrols have increased and posters been put up to raise awareness of reported suspicious activity in many popular dog walking locations.

Posters were placed at The Gallops, the entrances to the Cherhill Downs on the A4, the Smallgrain picnic site and on the Calne Police Facebook page.

PCSO Mark Cook said: “If you are approached by anyone behaving in a suspicious nature towards your dogs, contact us on the number 101 or 999 where appropriate.

“At this time, we have not received any reports of any dogs being stolen in our area.

“This is information and prevention advice only, but it goes without saying that you should always remain vigilant when walking your dogs.

“Please be assured that patrols will continue at dog walking locations for the foreseeable future.”
