Fundraising hero Ruby Hodgkinson, who had her head shaved just a few weeks ago, has organised a Hat Day at Hilmarton Primary School to raise even more money for charity.
Ruby, 11, from Goatacre, followed up her charity head shave in support of her little sister Isobel, who lost her hair after chemotherapy, with a day where every pupil and staff member wore a hat to school.
The event raised £261.68 for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
Headteacher Sam Churchill said: “The whole community has been amazing in their generosity and support. One of our Year 6 girls, Mia, donated £60 which she was given for her birthday.”
The donation will push the money raised on Ruby’s JustGiving page over £3,500.
But the school’s charitable actions haven’t just been limited to CLIC Sargent. It has also donated £267.90 from its nativity performance collections to the children’s hospital where Isobel, nine, is being treated.
Isobel’s siblings, Ruby and Ted, both performed in the nativities which have helped raise money for the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
