A pair of burglars who raided garden sheds and other outhouses in a Calne crime spree have been jailed.

Nicky Daniels and Jordan Sweetlove each targeted buildings in gardens in two separate spates of offending more than a year apart.

And one of the offences the pals acted together when they stole computer games and a console and other garden equipment from a boiler-house in Calne.

A judge at Swindon Crown Court was told on Friday that 21-year-old Daniels had acted as look out on that raid while Sweetlove, 22, went in.

Marcus Davey, prosecuting, said the offence took place on the night of Friday, January 11, this year into the following morning.

Daniels admitted keeping watch at another burglary of a shed in Anchor Road and attempts at Back Road and in Wessington Avenue.

He also asked for six other matters to be taken into consideration making ten offences on the same night.

When he was questioned by police he admitted all of the offences but Sweetlove, who was also interviewed, made no comment.

However his DNA was found on an item found at the raid on The Green and he admitted that offence.

At the time he was on bail for a number of other similar offences which took place in August 2012.

In those matters he stole a Boardman mountain bike in East Chisenbury, near Upavon, and a bicycle and motocross bike from a garage in Patney, near Devizes.

The court was told Daniels was already on a community order at the time of the spate of raids after being caught trying to break into a house in Studley on his birthday last summer.

In that offence he was spotted by neighbours and was caught running from the scene by police.

Daniels, of The Knapp, Calne, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, two attempts and asked for six matters to be taken into consideration.

Sweetlove, of Ogilvie Square, Calne, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary.

Mike Jeary, for Daniels, said it was clear his client had drugs and alcohol problems which need addressing.

He said he took part in the offending to get money as he had not sorted out his benefits and had nothing to live on.

Alex Daymond, for Sweetlove, said his client now had a job and was hoping to move to Weston-super-Mare with his partner, to start afresh.

Passing sentence Judge Tim Mousley QC told Daniels: "You went on a spree of burglary with another.

"You, Sweetlove, were involved with Mr Daniels in one of the burglaries. Both of you were under the influence of drink and or drugs."

He said there was not sufficient reason to suspend sentences and jailed Sweetlove for ten months and Daniels for eight months.
