Calne's Winter Festival - due to take place in the town tomorrow from 2pm - has been cancelled because of the bad weather.
Heavy rain has been forecast for Saturday and a spokesman for the town council said they were very disappointed at having to cancel the popular Christmas event, as a lot of planning had gone into it.
But it was decided that it was better to let people know today rather than make a decision tomorrow.
It is expected that a small Christmas lights switch-on ceremony will take place at some point but the main event will not take place this year.
