Post office closures to be announced today
Post offices across Wiltshire will find out their fate today as Post Office Ltd will announce the closures.
The announcement comes after a 6 week period of public consultation in which many residents mounted campaigns to save the small rural post offices.
A focus of the campaigns has been the difficulties the elderly and disabled will encounter if their local post office closes.
Many of the campaigns have also drawn attention to the fact that without the business that the post office draws, many small local shops will close.
The watchdog Postwatch has asked the Post Office to reconsider its closure plans for a number of small offices.
