Rough 'N Tumble 2008
This year's Rough 'n' Tumble multi terrain running event raised £1000 for Milton Lilbourne Village Hall.

650 participants faced strong winds, and muddy terrain, making the annual event the most challenging so far, said organizer Steve Goulding.

The winner was Steve Herring with a winning time of 1.07.57, just 20 seconds off the course record.

The whole village of Milton Lilbourne turned out to support the event by making cakes & marshalling the event.

Money raised will be spent on a long awaited kitchen refurbishment for the hall.

Steve and Julie Goulding commented on how surprised they are by how far people will travel to compete in this race, having received entries from South Wales, Birmingham, London, Devon and Yorkshire.

This years accolade of oldest finisher went to one of the great names in the running world, Sir Chris Chataway, who at 76 completed the course in 1.52.02.

Sir Chris said: "That was the toughest course I have ever run - mud, wind, rain and one vertical hill after another! But it was a superbly organised event and a fantastic spirit about it all. Despite everything I wouldn't have missed it."

Sir Chataway thoroughly enjoyed the race and finished with a smile on his face showing that he has not lost any enthusiasm for his sport. After the race he kindly presented the prizes.

It was a very good day for Chippenham Harriers who fielded a team of over 30 runners for their first club championship race of 2008.

They clinched both the male and female team prize for the second year running. First Chippenham Harrier home was Richard Schofield who had a superb run finishing 8th overall in a time of 1.13.39.

Husband and wife Chippenham Harriers, Paul & Joc Dodd, scooped 1st Vet 50 and 1st Vet female 45 making it a very successful day for Chippenham.
