POLICE swooped on narrow boats at 7am t today after being tipped off by the public about misuse of drugs.
Officers executed warrants on people Act on boats in the Honeystreet and Milkhouse Water areas of Pewsey.
Two arrests were made during the operation. A 32 year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug and on suspicion of intent to supply drugs. A second man, aged 50, who has recently moved to the area, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug and of suspicion of possession of an illegal incapacitant spray.
Over a dozen officers were used in the operation as well as a dog, specially trained to detect drugs. The officers searched both boats for several hours.
A large amount of what is thought to be cannabis resin was found on the boats by the team of specially trained search officers and an illegal incapacitant spray was also discovered.
One of the narrow boats has been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act and the two arrested men are currently in custody at Melksham Police Station.
Chief Inspector John Boland, Operational Commander, Kennet and North Wiltshire, said: "We are always pleased to receive information from the public regarding illegal activities and are keen to act on such information swiftly, in this case to remove the danger that drugs present to the people of Wiltshire.
"We are determined to use all resources at our disposal to eradicate illegal drugs from our communities."

It's a pity that they can't be bothered when they are told about others in the area doing exactly the same sort of thing
