Hope for winter wonderland
THE organisers of Pewsey's Christmas Fair this Saturday are hoping for snow to help set the scene.
Phil Stevens, one of the organising committee, said: "We have checked with the Met office at Lyneham and they have assured us it will snow on the day.
"This is just what we want because we have Father Christmas arriving by horse-drawn sleigh."
Santa will arrive at about 2.15pm to signal the start of the event which will be spread through the centre of the village in North Street and High Street as far as the Co-op car park turning.
He will proceed to his grotto in the Old Fire Station opposite the Methodist Church where Kookie the Clown will be entertaining children during the afternoon.
There will be free gifts for every child visiting Santa's grotto.
There will be stalls set up by charities and local organisations in the Fire Station yard and also along North Street.
The fire station will be running a hog roast throughout the afternoon.
A collection point for the Gazette's Christmas toys appeal will be the caravan at the fire station.
This year the carnival lighting gang has installed extra Christmas lights and carnival queen Kayleigh Bryant will switch them on at about 4.15pm.
Mr Stevens said: "The Christmas Fair is another of Pewsey's success stories and we believe we have established a successful formula that we are sticking to."
