AN ELECTRICIAN choked back tears as he was jailed for four months following an assault at a Bromley pub.
Croydon Crown Court heard how Graham Halls, 21, of Erith almost killed Robert Eades with a single blow outside the pub.
Mr Eades made his way to Bromley Police Station after the assault but collapsed after feeling dizzy. He was rushed to Bromley Hospital.
Prosecuting Quintin Hawkins said: “His condition deteriorated and he was soon unconscious. A scan showed cranial haemorrhaging and he was urgently transferred to King's College Hospital where he was operated on.”
When police arrived at Hall's home, he admitted he had given the victim “a slap”.
Judge Timothy Stow told Halls: “A violent attack of this sort is always a serious matter and this is no exception.
“I have to take into account the severe consequences it had on the victim. There is, regrettably, far too much of this kind of violence. I am satisfied you have shown real remorse.
“I have heard glowing references from numerous people, and you have had the good sense to plead guilty.
“You have been frank and I am satisfied you did not intend to cause the serious injury.”
