A TEAM of eight women from Marlborough and Wootton Rivers are in training for the Moonwalk in London on May 17, raising funds for breast cancer research.
The Playtex Moonwalk grossed more than £4.9million in 2007 and this year the organisers hope to smash the £5million barrier.
In total there will be 15,000 mainly women but including some men setting out from Hyde Park for the 26 mile marathon walk.
Many women highlight the cause by wearing their bras over their clothes.
The Moonwalk has been held annually since 1998 raising more than £35million for breast cancer research.
Two of the eight women from the Marlborough area received successful treatment for breast cancer.
One of them, Jenny Fryer, who lives in Marlborough, had a lumpectomy and chemotherapy two years ago and is now in remission. Mrs Fryer aid: "Two of us taking part have had breast cancer but everybody knows somedbody who has had it.
"We decided to take part as a team and we have been training together."
The others taking part from the Marlborough area are: Sara Wardlaw, Mary Graham, Debbie Spink, Lisa Bernard, Lisa Beale, Fran Maxwell and Nikki Barker.
Mrs Fryer said: "We all know each other through different groups and when we started talking about it we agreed to enter as a team."
Details of how to sponsor the women can be found on www.bmycharity.com/jennyfryer
