Oaksey entrepeneur's products to be featured on Ready Steady Cook
SWEET toothed Malmesbury entrepreneur John Taylerson is gearing up to show off his new syrups on Ready Steady Cook next week.
Taylersons, the Oaksey based syrup manufacturers, have been in business since last April and have recently added Selfridges and Waitrose to its list of stockists.
Now company founder Mr Taylorson is hoping to widen the appeal of his products with an appearance on the hit BBC 2 cookery programme.
Although he has no idea how his syrup will be used, it will feature in one of the competitor's bags of goodies, which a professional chef will then use to whip up a three-course meal.
His product comes in flavours from caramel to mint and can be used in coffee, cakes, ice cream and desserts.
Mr Taylorson said: "Ready Steady Cook seem quite keen to promote local produce so it is quite exciting.
"I found out when the Guild of Fine Food told me that it was going to be used.
"Hopefully they will come up with some amazing recipes that other customers can use.
"I am going to watch the recording and would love to meet some of the stars.
"I never get to watch the programme because I am always so busy here."
Mr Taylerson was a former Marketing Director with Milk Link Ingredients and set up the Milk Development Councils marketing department.
He also consulted for Defra on innovation and worked for many major companies including Tetra Pak and Waterford Foods.
Since setting up Malmesbury Syrups a year ago he says it has gone from strength to strength.
Within six months Malmesbury Syrups gained listings in fine food delis including Selfridges and within a year gained John Lewis Food Hall and local Waitrose stores as outlets.
This month he also launched a new range of Frappe syrups to go alongside the coffee syrups at the food show at Birmingham NEC.
He added: "The great thing about these syrups is that once people have tried them they love them.
"We have been very lucky and as long as the phone is ringing with orders I think we are doing ok.
"The most important thing is that people like what we do and they enjoy the product."
At the end of the month Mr Taylerson will be inspiring other budding businessmen at the Institute of Directors Entrepreneurs' dinner with a tale of hi success.
