Pub landlady attacked
Hilary Timms is comforted by her partner Keith Johnson after the attack in the car park of The Kings Arms in Malmesbury
Hilary Timms is comforted by her partner Keith Johnson after the attack in the car park of The Kings Arms in Malmesbury

LANDLADY Hilary Timms was left with a broken nose and two black eyes after she tried to quieten a troublesome gang.

But Mrs Timms, who runs the Kings Arms in Malmesbury, is determined to carry on taking a strong line against violence.

Mrs Timms was viciously assaulted in the car park of her pub by another woman in the early hours of Sunday.

Now she has vowed to tackle the problem alongside other licensees and traders in the town to try and make Malmesbury safe again.

The attack took place in the pub's car park after Mrs Timms went to tell a gang that had gathered outside to be quiet.

She says the group then became aggressive and Mrs Timms ended up being hit in the face by a 23-year-old woman from the Swindon area.

She has since been arrested.

Mrs Timms said: "There were two girls and three lads who decided to gather in the car park at 1.20am.

"They hadn't been in our pub so I don't know where they came from but they were drunk.

"As far as I could tell they had stashed some booze in the car park and were coming back to collect it."

"They didn't like me questioning what they were doing and that's when one of them hit me.

"I don't really know what happened after, just lots of blood everywhere.

"It was not a nice experience and now I am left in pain with two black eyes to match.

"She had rings on her fingers so I have been left with cuts as well."

Mrs Timms says that violent incidents in the pub are rare and even at the time of the attack her main concern were the customers.

"I have people paying to sleep here and I didn't want them disturbed." she said.

"It isn't a nice thing to go through and people shouldn't have to be put through it in a place like Malmesbury.

"Everything that has happened lately with violence and crime is having a detrimental effect on the town.

"People just won't come in here if it isn't safe."

Mrs Timms is keen to have her say at a meeting tonight, which has been organised by the police and the council just in time to crackdown on anti social behaviour.

"I will definitely be saying something and it is CCTV that we need.

"If there had been security then police could have seen my attackers before it got out of hand.

"On the whole the police have been great.

They were here within minutes on Saturday but these things need preventing."

Wtf, she asked for it, on her own property? Don't be stupid.
