Marlborough takeaway plan backed

Town councillors in Marlborough were split over whether another take away should be allowed in The Parade.

However, on Monday the town council planning committee voted six to three to raise no objection to revised plans for an Indian take away at the former investment offices at 13 The Parade.

Previous plans had been opposed by the town council and Kennet District Council but had been modified to meet concerns raised.

Coun Nick Fogg led the opposition saying he was pleased Kennet had supported the concerns expressed by town councillors when the plans were originally submitted.

Coun Alexander Kirk Wilson could see nothing wrong with another take away in The Parade and said: "It is a fact that we live with take-away food places and there is something to be said for having them all together."
