| ENUE HUNT: Aaron Baldwin is a man on a mission |
MUSIC lover Aaron Baldwin is desperately seeking a venue to show off Malmesbury's musical talent.
The 18-year-old used to hold gigs at the Rose and Crown in Lea but was forced to find another place because people complained about the noise.
Now Mr Baldwin, who runs his own events agency called Crystal Clear Management, and has been showcasing the town's musical talent for the past year, is looking for public support.
He said: "Malmesbury has an amazing music scene but nowhere to showcase it.
"I have received tons of emails asking for more shows, but I have nowhere to do them.
"The better the venue, the bigger the bands and the bigger the crowds. An average show costs £400-500 per night. If the night is successful, the money breaks even.
"I do not do this for the money. Music is my passion and dream.
"Loads of people in Malmesbury know about my events and they really help young people get into new music.
"There's a really lively music scene and instead of trying to encourage it, teenagers are forced to give up because there's nowhere to go. The town council has put no effort into extra curricular activities around Malmesbury.
"Each event I have organised has sold out, taking more than 100 kids off the streets of Malmesbury and into a friendly atmosphere, where they can meet and watch their favourite bands/artists."
Mr Baldwin has worked with bands such as Open the Skies, who recently signed to Rising Records and are currently play listed on MTV, as well as more familiar local acts such as Old School Tie. He says he has contacted pubs with space to host event nights but most charge more than he is able to afford.
He said: "Crystal Clear aims to showcase one music event a month and in the past three weeks I have received more than 100 emails asking when the next event will be.
"I've never experienced drug use or violence at an event."
When he completes a drama degree at Exeter University Mr Baldwin hopes to take up music promotion full time and one day run his own record label.
Anyone who thinks they can help Mr Baldwin should contact him at crystalclear management@hotmail.co.uk
Landlord of The Rose and Crown John Peaple said he was forced to ban the bands because they were disturbing his neighbours.
He said: "They were just too big and too noisy for the venue. I had people complaining to me every time they played so they just had to go.
"But I wish the guys all the best for the future."

One Suggestion for 25-27th July would be Womad, taking place at Charlton Park. Originally held near Reading it's moved to Malmesbury this year because it outgrew its previous home.
I believe Peter Gabriel who started it all off many years ago is involved again this year, I'm sure he'd be willing to help.
Go to www.womad.org for further details, they're based in Box
