Real demand for ale
 |
| SUCCESSFUL EVENT: Chippenham Beer Festival this year attracted nearly 1,800 visitors |
I would like to write on behalf of the North West Wiltshire Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale to thank the 1,798 people who attended our 17th Chippenham Beer Festival for their support in making this one of the most successful events.
On Friday night alone, nearly 1,000 people enjoyed an unparalleled choice of real ales, ciders and perries. They also demonstrated that real ale can be enjoyed sensibly and responsibly.
CAMRA supports real ale and the sensible consumption of this fine product. We were delighted to see that our festival managed to prove that this can be done over the course of the two-day festival.
Your feature reported on a successful festival with copious amounts of amber nectar being drunk. We are happy to clarify that no pasteurised, fizzed larger was available; only real ales which ranged from black in colour, to amber and even green. None of it pasteurised and all of it a testimony to the fact that there is a demand for real ale in Wiltshire.
We will be back next year on April 24-25.
Gareth MacDonald,
Vice-chairman,
Chippenham Beer Festival
organising committee
