Manager is relevant
I was disappointed to read Tony Gray's letter in last week's Gazette & Herald. After almost ten years in the planning and with many barriers to overcome, we are proud to be able to celebrate the commencement of work on our new school, and are excited that one of our most well-known local residents has agreed to cut the first turf.
It is a surprise that Mr Gray feels the school is not "doing the right thing" in inviting someone who has lived locally for many years and who, in his role as England Under-21 manager, has so much relevance to our young people.
Many of the local people who have helped us through the many ups and downs to reach this exciting moment are joining us at the ceremony. I hope that once building work commences, the few local people who have made our journey so difficult will join the majority of the local community in celebrating the reality that the new school will provide our young people, and the whole community, with the first-class facilities they deserve.
