Kennet’s legacy...
3:36pm Thursday 8th May 2008
I am sure you have many readers like Lorraine Mundy of Easterton who agree that the council's policy on litter bins is totally unacceptable. It does put a new meaning on "Keeping Kennet Special".

Don’t say anything
3:32pm Thursday 8th May 2008
Please Mr Gray please don't rain on our parade (letters, May 1).

Real demand for aleReal demand for ale
3:28pm Thu 8 May 08
I would like to write on behalf of the North West Wiltshire Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale to thank the 1,798 people who attended our 17th Chippenham Beer Festival for their support in making this one of the most successful events.

Disco a big success
3:27pm Thursday 8th May 2008
On Saturday I went to Westlea Housing Association and the police's attempt to reduce anti-social behaviour by providing the youth of Chippenham with something else to do, known as Bluez n' Zuz, situated centrally at the Olympiad, with a £2 entrance fee from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Focus on planning
3:26pm Thursday 8th May 2008
The situation surrounding the gypsies living in Minety is clearly a very delicate one.

Walk will be a boost
3:25pm Thursday 8th May 2008
On behalf of the Melksham, Chippenham & Calne branch of the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust, I would like to thank everyone who supported our recent sponsored walk.

Shed light on plan
3:23pm Thursday 8th May 2008
On the local news bulletin for the West Country on BBC's TV Breakfast news recently there was an item describing the fact that £3 million was being spent on rebuilding (not renovating) three huts/hangars at RAF Yatesbury, due to their historic interest'.

Roll on unitary days
3:21pm Thursday 8th May 2008
I would like to refer to an item in the Gazette and Herald on May 1, page 61 "Kennet making places for the future". I doubt very few readers will have noticed it.

Garden grabbing?
3:20pm Thursday 8th May 2008
So now we are witnessing garden grabbing' in Avebury are we, as well as Bottlesford? (£300,000 in Bottlesford for the bottom half of a back garden against a railway line, but with planning permission of course). Now Avebury, and against many official objections? What can one say? "Keeping Kennet Special" did we read on the planning department's letterhead? They just have to be joking. The sooner they are gone for good, the better.

Pearce will be a drawPearce will be a draw
3:18pm Thu 8 May 08
I found Tony Gray's letter of May 1 to be misguided in the extreme. I assisted the excellent school fund-raising team in organising Stuart Pearce to attend the turf cutting at St. John's.
