Music night hits the right note in Melksham
10:00am Tuesday 8th March 2011 in News By Chris Melvin
Musical acts from several different genres have raised £1,700 for Help For Heroes at a gig in Melksham.
The musicians, who performed rap, pop, swing, country, Irish and rap, took part in the charity music night at The Foresters Arms in Melksham on Saturday night, in front of around 200 people.
The evening was organised by Irish singer Kerry Evans, from Bromham, after performing at a similar event in Essex.
Ms Evans said: “We had a brilliant night. We raised £1,709.17 all together with the proceeds of the raffle, tickets sold before Saturday and also on the door and donations.”
Covers band Indecision performed an hour-long set, with 10 individual acts also performing two songs each on the night.
Ms Evans said: “The landlord Paul was brilliant and said we can have his pub to hold another charity music night whenever we want, so I think it’ll be a regular event.
“I would like to say a big thank you to Indecision, all the individual acts, everyone who bought a ticket, Paul the landlord, his bar staff, the raffle ticket sellers and all who donated the prizes.”
