An extra row has been put in at The Athenaeum Theatre in Warminster to meet demand for a Christmas show in aid of Help For Heroes.

The variety show, which takes place at 7.30pm on December 18, has been organised by theatre group Starry Eyes after a successful festive performance at Upton Scudamore last year.

One of the group’s directors, Sally Boyle, says the charity is close to her heart after her nephew Liam Thompson, 22, was wounded by an explosion while serving as a Marine in Afghanistan three years ago.

“Liam is doing really well now,” Mrs Boyle said. “Since the incident he has raised lots of money for Help For Heroes. He knows how important the charity is because of his traumatic experience and the fact he’s lost comrades in battle.

“We’ve had to add another row in the theatre because there has been such demand. There’s only a few tickets left, so you’ll have to be quick.

“We may have to put on another performance if there is enough demand.”

The show will include performers from Starry Eyes, Limelight and members of Warminster’s Minster Choir, who will be singing musical numbers, Christmas songs and original pieces. Tickets are £10 from The Athenaeum box office on 01985 213891.
