Many people in Wiltshire are already doing their bit for Help for Heroes. Every week we run stories about men and women who are taking part in everything from runs and walks to climbs and jumps to raise cash. But now the Wiltshire Gazette and Herald and the Wiltshire Times are making Help For Heroes our appeal for 2010 and hope to raise £50,000. The money raised through our appeal will stay in Wiltshire and be used to help build and equip a personnel recovery centre in Tidworth.
Soldier Josh Campbell knows better than most what a wonderful job Help for Heroes does at the joint services rehabilitation centre at Headley Court in Surrey. Pt Campbell, 20, of Melksham, had to have his legs amputated after being blown up while manning a heavy machine gun on a Mastiff armoured vehicle in Afghanistan last year. He said: “Help for Heroes does a great job. They are making all the difference to Headley Court and it will be really good to have personnel recovery centres in other places such as Tidworth.”
