Opposition is growing to plans by waste firm Biffa to extend the landfill site at Studley Grange, despite pledging that work would stop in 2011.
People in Wootton Bassett and Lydiard Tregoz claim that Biffa had reneged on a promise not to carry on tipping there when its licence runs out.
They fear that the massive extension of the site will see an increase in smells, noise, dust and lorry movements.

Campaigners fear that the plan to expand the site, near Junction 16 of the M4, will also destroy the tranquility of the only true rural lane in the area.
They have also won the backing of North Wiltshire MP James Gray, who is furious that Biffa is going back on its word to cease operations when a 14-year extension to its licence was granted in 1997.
The Tory MP said: "I am very concerned about Biffa's attempt to extend the life of this landfill site. Planning permission is granted for these sites under very strict conditions.
"It is essential that these conditions are strictly adhered to and there is no subsequent attempt to shift the goalposts."
County councillor Mollie Groom said: "We feel betrayed. The expansion of the site will have an enormous impact on so many people."
Coun Groom said the proposals would especially hit people from Wootton Bassett's Woodshaw estate and those
living around Bincknoll Lane.
She said the proposed expansion would see operations take place just 100 metres from Bincknoll Lane, which is a rural pathway popular with dog walkers, joggers, walkers and horse riders.
Biffa said its plans were prompted by the pressing need for more waste management
facilities for Wiltshire.
