A SUNNY bank holiday Monday brought out the crowds for the ever popular Devizes Lions fair.
Last year's event was badly hit by rain so club members were relieved when the sun shone.
This year was the first time that all the attractions were in the Market Place, and the switch paid off with thousands of people milling about, browsing the numerous charity stalls and enjoying entertainment.
Oi Sambistas!, Devizes' Samba Band, played their samba rhythms while Devizes Town Band played traditional music and Moonraker Morris demonstrated Morris dancing.
The 2nd and 4th Devizes Guides demonstrated dancing around a maypole and were joined by the mayor Julian Beinhorn.
There was a steady queue for refreshments, including at the pig roast tent.

For the adventurous there was the opportunity to climb a 40ft wall or ride a rodeo bull.
For children, the Punch and Judy show and bouncy castle proved popular attractions, and The Shambles indoor market and the antiques and collectors fair in the Corn Exchange drew in shoppers.
Chris Ellis, club president said: "The sun came out and so did the people.
"They had smiles on their faces.
"We were worried about the weather following the rain we have had recently but fortunately it has stayed away.
"Thanks to everyone there and who gave donations."
