Joyce Weston with some of her sheep which survived an attack by dogs
HORRIFIED Joyce Weston found three of her sheep with their faces ripped off after two dogs went on a rampage in her barn.
The dogs attacked a six-month-old sheep that had to be put down by vets, and killed two older sheep on Thursday.
Mrs Weston, 62, who lives in Quemerford, near Calne, has bred sheep as a hobby for 12 years. She said the scene was like a horror film.
"It was absolutely gruesome. I walked down to the barn expecting everything to be normal when I saw the blood. It was everywhere, all over the walls and the floor. Then I saw the baby sheep.
"His face was ripped off and he was just looking at me with pleading eyes.
"My husband called the vet as I was too upset. The vet told us he knew it was dogs, because they always go for the throat and neck.

"People use the field near our home to walk their dogs and all it takes is for one of them to jump the fence and come into the barn."
Mrs Weston added:"I just want some answers, I know someone knows something, because their dogs would have been head to foot in blood.
"I can't sleep now. It was so awful watching the vet put the baby down, he was so strong and fighting to stay alive. The police need to find whoever did this to stop them coming back and killing more of my sheep.
"I know these were not wild dogs because someone must have stopped them otherwise they would have carried on and killed more.
"The animals that killed my sheep should be destroyed."
Police are appealing for witnesses. PC Alan Blake of Calne Police said: "The vet seemed to think that it was likely to have been at least two large dogs, because of the severity of the injuries."
"The animals that killed my sheep should be destroyed."
Yes they should be destroyed when found.
The owners of the dog should compensate you as well.
best of luck with finding them.

Whilst I understand that Mrs Weaton is naturally very upset,I cannot agree with this statement.
In several breeds of dog, for example dogs breed for shooting, chasing and even killing certain animals is part of their nature, unless they are carefully controlled or trained otherwise. The dog that killed Mrs Weston's sheep is not necessarily any more dangerous than the average household pet, and a proper assessment of its condition should be carried out before it is destroyed.
The blame probably lies not in the dog, but in the owner for failing to keep the dog under proper control, and I certainly agree that the owner should provide compensation, although the owner is highly unlikely to come forwards now that a threat against their dog's life has been made.
I would suggest that the best course of action for Mrs Weaton to prevent further attacks on her sheep due to incompetent owners would be to increase the height of her fence.

if those dogs went out and attacked two kids then they would be automatically destroyed.
if the dog has killed sheep then it is not only against the law but they should also be destroyed.
and saying the sheep should have a higher fence is adding insult to injury ,im sure she has the proper fencing.
if those dogs were to get out like that again they would kill again could be sheep ,cat or even a child.
