A fruit and veg stall created entirely out of knitting and crocheting will appear at the farmers market in Malmesbury this week.

The work of art has been created by Stroud Knitting Group and knitters of the Stroud Valleys.

The pain-staking project has received backing from the awards for All National Lottery Fund and Coates Crafts (Patons), and is supported by Stroudwater Textile Festival, which runs throughout May.

It is designed to challenge people's preconceptions about what constitutes art, and to raise the profile of knitting, which is becoming a dying skill.

The knitted fruit and veg stall will be called "Knit One, Eat One" and will appear at the market on Saturday .
