Paul Cook has received a Volunteer of the Year Award
A Calne man has received a prestigious Volunteer of the Year Award 2012 from Greensleeves Homes Trust for helping residents to lead fulfilling lives at Kingston House Care Home, Calne.
Paul Cook has been associated with Kingston House for nearly 12 years and has been a volunteer for five. His wife Sandra is a carer at the Home. Mr Cook helps out for about 10-12 hours every week, picking up shopping and prescriptions and driving the minibus among a host of other tasks.
Resident Frank, said: "Paul is much more that the man who drives the minibus. To me he has been a great friend almost from the first day I met him."
With 17 homes in the Greensleeves Group across the country and four volunteers shortlisted to receive this accolade, Mr Cook’s dedication and unstinting support has really shone through.
Kingston House manager Carol Grainger said: "Paul Cook’s quiet and kindly demeanour is comforting and inspires confidence in all the residents at Kingston House."
