Meet the Ancestors presenter Julian Richards has appealed for volunteers to help him build a model of Stonehenge at Wiltshire Heritage Museum.
Mr Richards, a noted expert on the ancient stone circle, will be constructing a model of the monument at the museum in Long Street, Devizes, on Sunday August 30 from 11am to 3pm.
He will be using cardboard and paper to construct and decorate the trilithons and bluestones in the car park behind the museum, or in the lecture hall if wet.
The following day more recent history will be investigated when Devizes Cine and Video Club shows two 1969 films of Devizes and district.
The films are entitled Carnival Parade and the Heart of Wiltshire.
The films will be shown on August bank holiday Monday, August 31, at 11am, noon, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Ali Rushent, education officer at Wiltshire Heritage Museum, said: “Julian hopes as many people as possible will turn up and give him a hand with this project.
“The Stonehenge model could be quite a size. The tallest monolith is expected to be more than two metres high. The model is likely to fill the whole car park at the museum.”
Entry to both the events is free.
