Students at St John’s in Marlborough taking part in the school’s rock musical We Will Rock You this week were given a huge morale boost by a personal message from Queen guitarist Brian May.
The curtain went up at the Stedman building on Tuesday with every ticket sold for all four evening performances.
The show, a schools version of the hit West End musical written by Queen and Ben Elton, runs until Saturday night.
After a tip-off from a St John’s parent, Brian May sent an e-mail saying: “Brian May here.
“I have been hearing that Marlborough is about to be rocked!
“I just wanted to send a good luck message to all...who have worked so hard to make the show of a lifetime hit the stage on the 2nd December.
“Have the time of your lives, and it will fly! Cheers, and love to all.”
The cast are performing more than 25 of Queen’s classic tracks and the story follows a small group of Bohemians 300 years in the future on a quest to overcome the Killer Queen.
