DAYDREAMS about designing that perfect home could be closer to reality than people think with National Self Build Week just around the corner.

Anyone can control their house build project by working with a developer or local house builder, buying a plot and commissioning a bespoke new home or managing a self-build project by themselves.

Swindon’s own National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC) is showing home owners how to have their own Grand Designs experience with a three day Self Build & Renovation Show from May 11.

NSBRC managing director, Harvey Fremlin, says: “We’d love to see people from Swindon and Wiltshire come along and discover how accessible it is to build your own home these days. We’re delighted to support the National Custom and Self Build Week by hosting our Spring Show and we will be encouraging visitors to sign up to their local ‘Right to Build register’ - a council maintained register of individuals and groups of individuals who want to build their own home.

“Whatever stage your project is in, there will be an expert available to look at your plans and offer feedback on where to start, the best building methods and materials for the job”.

Over 250 exhibitors will be available to give expert advice on every aspect of designing and building a home.

The National Self Build & Renovation Show runs from May 11 – 13, is located on Junction 16 of the M4 and has free parking.
