ONE of Wiltshire’s best kept secrets on the airwaves has been relaunched after finding a new home.

Ian Williams, Tim Stephenson and Martin Jones first started ITfM Radio from a garden shed in Sutton Lane ten years ago, but now the station will be broadcast from a new state-of-the-art studio at The Bell House hotel in Sutton Benger.

The studio was opened by Councillor Sandie Webb, leader of Chippenham Town Council, and Dominic and Jacqui Hogg from the hotel on Saturday in front of dozens of people.

"True local radio has disappeared since the formation of large corporate radio businesses and we believe local radio delivered over the Internet via smart phone technology amongst other methods is the future of broadcasting," Mr Williams said.

"We set up this service ten years ago to play Just Great Music but firmly believe this is the future of local radio as everyone has a smart phone in their pocket."

Mr Stephenson added: "The investment in the studio here at The Bell House ensures ITfM will continue to grow."

The radio station, which supports local events in North Wiltshire, encourages members of the public to get involved in the programming of the station by choosing ten songs and presenting them with their stories every Sunday evening.

Specialist music shows will be broadcast during the week as well as a dedicated requests show on Thursday evening.

Mr Jones added: “We have great ambitions for the future of local radio, it’s all about the

music and the involvement of people in North Wiltshire that will make local radio a reality

again.

“We had a great afternoon on Saturday in the company of lots of our listeners and

friends."
