A DRIVER was left with a deep cut to his head after a metal hook smashed through the windscreen of his car.
He was driving between Devizes and Beckhampton when it happened.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident on the A361 at about 4pm last Wednesday.
The man in his 50s was driving a silver Nissan Leaf towards Beckhampton from Devizes when the driver was struck in the head by the metal hook, which shattered his windscreen.
He sustained a laceration to his head and was taken to the Great Western Hospital by ambulance.
PC Ben Cox, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “It is not known if this hook came from another vehicle, or if it has been thrown up from the carriageway by another vehicle, and into the windscreen of the victim’s car.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who may have been driving along this stretch of road around this time, especially anyone who may have dash cam footage.”
Anyone who can help the investigation should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
