YOUNGSTERS at a village pre-school were complemented on their behaviour and ability to share by Ofsted inspectors who declared the nursery outstanding in all areas.

Chirton Pips pre-school was delighted by the report which also praised leadership and the involvement of parents.

Chairman Ruth Cooper said: "I am proud to say that we were awarded outstanding in all four areas. This is an amazing result and reflects the hard work since our last inspection in November 2014.

"Our manager, Sarah Jones, and her team have all worked immensely hard these last few years. Considering that Chirton Pips Preschool was under threat of closure in 2012, we have come a long way."

The pre-school, which is based next to the main village school, has like its bigger neighbour had to contend with threats to its future because of falling numbers. But they are now both thriving.

Ofsted inspectors said in a report: "The provider and staff team are highly committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children.

"Staff plan precisely for improvement and meticulously analyse information about children’s progress to ensure outstanding levels of achievement.

"The pre-school works closely with Chirton Primary School providing consistent support for children as they prepare to move on to school."

Leaders were praised for the incredibly strong relationship between the two schools and the report also said staff were excellent role models.

It said: "They set high behavioural expectations. They set high behavioural expectations. Children behave exceptionally well. Children determine fairness and confidently negotiate turn taking with their friends."

The pre-school was told the only way it could further improve in the future was to continue to implement plans to enhance the superb opportunities for children to develop high levels of emotional well-being.

It was declared outstanding overall and was also outstanding for effectiveness of leadership, quality of teaching, personal development of children and outcomes for pupils.
