A CORSHAM boy has won a bronze medal after competing at the GTI English Open Taekwondo championships.

Black tag fighter Danny Wright, 14, who has been training with the prestigious Warrior Academy in the town since 2013, took third in his category, after he and 13 others from the Academy travelled to Cheltenham for the event.

“We believe it is very important to give children the opportunities to be very best they can be and develop their character and confidence through martial arts,” Valerie Fergus of the Warrior Academy said.

“We describe our children as bulletproof, because they persevere despite all the changes they go through and they really showed it in this competition.

“It is a really big thing for the students, especially since it is a national competition, and we are really proud of all their efforts.”

Black belts Oz Mills, 15, and Ellie Perkins, 14, from Rowde and District, took home silver and bronze medals respectively while black tag Oscar Thearle, 14, was a runner up.
