AN RAF medal and a rare Maria Theresa silver dollar dating back to 1754 are among items stolen from a home in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Police are investigating the theft, in which a number of items with sentimental value were also taken from the house in Longleaze between 5.30pm on January 29 and 9am on January 30.

The RAF Long Service and Good Conduct medal was inscribed with the owner’s service number, rank and name.

Police have not ruled out connecting the crime to a number of similar thefts in the area which have taken place recently.

PC Rob Wilson said: “We are really keen to locate these items and return them to their owner – many of the items are inscribed and have sentimental value.

“We are keeping an open mind as to whether this burglary is linked to any others in the area and our enquiries are continuing.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who may have information, did you see or hear anything suspicious in the area during these times? Please get in touch.”

Witnesses can contact police on 101.
