THREE teenagers are celebrating achieving girl guiding's top honour of the Baden Powell Award.

Talia Aktas-Owen, Lily Randall and Sasha Minnis are all members of 2nd Devizes Guides. Talia and Lily, who are pupils of Devizes School and Sasha, who goes to St Augustines in Trowbridge, have been guides for nearly four years and spent the past 18 months working towards the award.

Guide leader Paula Postlethwaite said: "They have helped run theme evenings with the rest of the unit on various topics such as disability awareness, international Christmas and sports.

"They wrote about events they have attended and a farm visit, about hobbies and created posters about themselves. They also completed world themes badges as well as many other interest badges.

"During their time in Guides they have all attended camps and sleepovers as well as community events such as parades, sponsored swims and walks, may fairs and carnivals."

She praised them for being a great asset to the unit and showing enthusiasm and loyalty.
