DEVIZES School Sixth Form ambassadors and senior students held an auction and raised over £1,000 for charity.
The auction last Friday (December 8) raised £1,245 for Julia’s House, which has been their adopted charity for the last two years.
Sixth Form Ambassador Iona Johnstone and her sister Caitlin did most of the preparation of the event. Caitlin emailed over 200 local and national business for donations, which included a Dyson desk fan, family tickets to Hayne’s International Motor Museum, vouchers for paint balling at Hamburger Hill, and chocolates from Morrisons.
Deputy headteacher of Devizes Sixth Form, Martin Maxwell, said: “We were delighted with all the donations we received. People dug deep on the night for Julia’s House. It was an incredible display of generosity from the Devizes community, and we all know it will make a huge difference to those children and families that Julia’s House provides much needed support to. Our thanks go to them all.”
Students were invited to visit the Devizes centre before it was open last year, to keep up to date on the progress of building work and decided to keep fundraising for the charity once the centre opened.
