GRITTLETON Cricket Club has been bowled over by support after Linden Homes and Sovereign Housing Association donated new nets to the club.

The nets were donated to the club as an extra gift to the club as part of a new venture by the developers to provide a new cricket pavilion, grounds and floodlights at Chippenham Rugby Club.

The works, which fall in line with the development of 76 new homes on the former Westinghouse playing fields near Park Avenue, were due to be finished next year but have been completed in record time along with the new rugby training pitches.

“We are genuinely excited by the new and improved facilities that we will enjoy and we look forward to the 2018 season," Andrew Carrington, chairman of the club said. "I am sure that the new mobile net will benefit players, both young and old, for many years to come – including some who formerly played at Westinghouse Cricket Club.”

Mark Judge, development committee member at Sovereign, added: “The addition of these new nets will make a huge difference and we know they will be very much appreciated by all who use them. We wish them all the best in the next season!”
