A £5000 adventure play area designed by pupils at Baydon Primary School has become a reality and captured the imagination of children of all ages.

Children helped with every step of the design process and saw their vision to have a castle themed play area turned to life over the half term holiday.

Following two years of fundraising by the Friends of Baydon School, children returned to school to find the new addition to their playground.

Head teacher Caroline Knighton said: “The lovely thing about the play area is that it is as exciting for years six’s as it is for children in reception.

“The children were involved in what they wanted, came up with a plan and worked with the contractors to meet the needs of reception children all the way through to year six.

“There are lots of physical things to do and it is quite challenging for some children. It was all ready for them when the children came back from half term.”

With turrets, towers, climbing ropes and dens the area has been a hit with both the receptions class and older children as they share the park together.

Funds were raised through a range of activities including pyjama film parties at the school, a summer party in the paddock and an Easter extravaganza.
