A CARE HOME in Calne has kindly donated £300 to a nearby school to go towards buying a mini bus.

On Monday, November 13, residents from Kingston House care home paid a visit to children at Colerne Primary School near Chippenham during collective worship to present them with a cheque.

Kingston House has very close links with pupils at the school, who entertain residents with regular tea dances.

Business manager at Colerne Primary School Jill Scott also runs the dance club, which sees pupils go on regular trips to Kingston House.

She said: “We have had links with them since 2014. I do an after school dance club and the kids do dances at Kingston House.

“The residents love it. It is so lovely so that is why we go there.

“It made me cry, to have their generosity, I think it is marvellous.”

Last year the care home raised £20,000, and the money went towards buying a mini bus to take residents around Wiltshire. Remembering the school said they also wanted a mini bus, residents decided to share half of the money raised from their Halloween bingo event with the school.

Receptionist Lynda Beckett, said: “We have a very good relationship with the children at the school, they invite us to lots of events.

“They come to our tea dances and it is really good with our residents and with the children.

“As we always give money for charity, residents suggested that we give something back to the community.”

Residents travelled to Colerne Primary School in their new mini bus and were treated to afternoon tea before presenting the cheque to pupils and staff.
