SOME very brave women from Hilmarton have braved the cold and bared all to create their very own Calendar Girls calendar for charity.

Members of the Hilmarton Scarecrow Festival committee came up with the bright idea when discussing this year's scarecrow festival.

The Hilmarton Scarecrow Festival committee raise essential funds for the local community, and also raise money for one outside charity each year.

Chair of the committee Natalie Doust, said: "This year we chose to support The Teenage and Young Adult team based at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who provides a service to teenagers and young adults aged 16-24 who have been diagnosed with cancer.

"We chose to support this charity because we felt it was very close to our hearts as the son of one of our committee members has just been diagnosed with that awful disease."

After spotting a nude photo of the local cricket team at the Duke Hotel in Hilmarton, the committee suggested they shoot their own naked calendar and raise some money.

It was opened up to the whole community, and 13 women of all ages, from their early twenties to late sixties got their kit off for charity one frosty November morning.

Mrs Doust, said: "It was fun and enjoyable taking part, getting our hair and makeup done, it was a real girly get together for a great cause.

"I must admit if someone had said to me about posing for a nude calendar previously I would have told them where to go, but when something like that happens to a very close friend, you think twice."

Edith Cameron, a photographer who normally does school photography, portraits and pictures of families and children was delighted to be ask by the committee to take photos for the calender.

She said: "I was more than happy to give my free time and be involved in the project for the village community and the children charity.

"We had very limited time on the day to shoot all the images, so speed and a lot of creativity was needed before it got busy with traffic and passers by."

Calendars will be on sale at the Festive Christmas Shopping Evening on Friday, November 24 at the Hilmarton community room and school hall from 7pm-9.30pm.
