SCHOOLCHILDREN at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in Corsham laced up their dancing shoes for a special ballroom challenge.

The school, who are trying to encourage their pupils to try different sports and unique opportunities, brought the glitz and the glamour of Strictly Come Dancing to the school on Monday with the help of Vita La Dance.

The ballroom special follows a fencing session that was held for children several weeks ago.

Head teacher Rita McLoughlin said: “The day was part of giving the children opportunities to try something new and of course because we are in Strictly Come Dancing season!

“We wanted the children to try a brand new skill which many of them would have seen but never actually had a go at and understand the concentration and fitness levels that dancing requires.

“James and Joanna from Vita La Dance in Corsham taught the children different dances from the Salsa to the Quick Step with fantastic results, and the children loved it.”
